ALTERNATIVE EMERGENCY HOUSING FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ALTERNATIVE HOUSING AND PROGRAMS

The Helping Hands Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter in Boone County Indiana opened in November 2004. This short-term emergency shelter has helped over 3000 women and children find comfort and safety along with the needed services and comprehensive support system that is uniquely tailored for each family. Residents of the shelter have found their own voice to speak for their rights and needs. The children have found courage and self-esteem to speak on their own behalf and to not be afraid to ask for help and support.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT GROUP

For several years, MHABC has offered a domestic violence survivors’ support group for female survivors of domestic violence.  When the COVID-19 epidemic began, we decided to transition the support group to a virtual format.  The group is offered every other week on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Zoom.  This is a supportive group of domestic violence survivors and survivors’ advocates who are here to support one another.  You are not required to share your story to participate — your participation in the group will be at YOUR comfort level.  If you are interested in attending the group, either as a current or past survivor of DV, please contact us via email at kpollockMHABC@gmail.com to receive a virtual invitation to the group.  This will help us keep the group private and safe.  If you are a survivor of DV and need immediate access to resources, please contact (765) 482-3020, x100.  If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.
