ALTERNATIVE EMERGENCY HOUSING FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ALTERNATIVE HOUSING AND PROGRAMS

The Helping Hands Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter in Boone County Indiana opened in November 2004. This short-term emergency shelter has helped over 3000 women and children find comfort and safety along with the needed services and comprehensive support system that is uniquely tailored for each family. Residents of the shelter have found their own voice to speak for their rights and needs. The children have found courage and self-esteem to speak on their own behalf and to not be afraid to ask for help and support.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CONNECTION EVENTS

MHABC strives to offer monthly connection events for survivors of domestic violence.  These events are open to all survivors, whether you endured domestic violence years ago, or are currently experiencing this trauma.  The intent of the gatherings is to allow survivors to come together to support one another while experiencing/participating in an enjoyable activity (past activities have included yoga, coffee & coloring, and painting).  You are not required to share your story to participate — your participation in the group will be at YOUR comfort level. This is not a traditional support group.  If you are interested in attending the group, you can register on our website or please contact Katie at kpollock@mhaboonecounty.org. If you are a survivor of DV and need immediate access to resources, please contact (765) 482-3020, x100.  If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.
